A burqa is a covering or mask that a woman uses to cover her face, but not completely as much as a niqab. A burqa covers the forehead, the area below the nose, the mouth, and the chin.

Women also decorate the lower part of the burqa with gold, especially

For decades, the burqa has remained a symbol of Bedouin women in the Arabian Peninsula, especially in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

In traditional Saudi Arabia, women covered their faces with the burqa, concealing their beauty behind it. This practice was common among Saudi women in Taif, Mecca, and other cities.

The burqa consists of 7 main parts; learn about them:

Part One:

The front section, which is a horizontal strip that increases in width as the woman gets older or according to the woman’s own taste, is finished with a waterfall stitch.

Part Two:

The sword is a smooth stick made from a palm frond or stalk, which is polished and inserted into the middle of the burqa to rest on the nose line and achieve balance between the upper and lower parts of the burqa.

Part Three:

The eye socket, or eye opening, is designed to highlight the features of a woman's eyes according to her wishes or the proportions of her face.

Part Four:

The tear widens downwards in the corner corresponding to the object from above or below, i.e. from the temple to the cheek.

Part Five:

The sater or jasfa is a piece of fabric that covers the cheek and can be wide or narrow according to the woman's preference. The burqa is folded or wrapped around its sides.

Part Six:

The scrotum, extending from the temple to the tip of the sword and passing under the eye opening, is curved and resembles a beak.

And the seventh and final part

The lining is a piece of fabric that is attached to the inside of the burqa to absorb sweat and protect the face from indigo stains.

Finally, the "shabouk": these are the two threads attached to the ends of the burqa, which she pulls behind her head to secure her burqa.
